Basic Info
Name:Aldous Harper
Birthdate:10-25
Bio
Name: Aldous Harper

Year: 6th

Age/Birthday: 16, October 25th

House: Slytherin

Blood: Halfblood though he tells people he's pure

Personality:One of Aldous's most notable traits is his ambition. He has always viewed his father as a failure and as someone who never really did anything with his life. Because of this, he has a deep desire to do anything it takes to not become his father. He wants to make a name for himself so he'll always be remembered, something his father could never achieve. He works hard in school, achieving the best grades he can just so he'll have the opportunity to be and to do whatever he wants. He has yet to decide what his future career will be but all he knows is that it will bring him glory of some kind. Aldous can be incredibly single minded at times, to the point of obsession even, and he is willing to do whatever it takes to reach his goals. He doesn't really care if he hurts someone- as long as he's not close to then, that is- if it gets him what he wants.

This is not the side of his most people see. Aldous has become a master of shapshifting, so to speak, and he tends to play the role that people want to see. He'll appear sweet and polite, an all around gentleman, if that is what whoever his companion is desires him to be- and if there's something he can gain from this. He's become quite good at saying or doing exactly what someone wants. That isn't to say that he always plays the nice guy. Often enough, his temper gets the better of him and he snaps. Anything that sparks a strong emotion is bound to get him to show his real self. In addition, if he sees no reason to put on a show, he won't. There are simply some people who aren’t worth his time so he won’t make the effort to be civil.

That isn't to say that he's a horrible person; he really, truly does care about the people close to him. If you gain his complete trust and friendship, he'll be loyal until the end. While he is, by nature, a selfish person, he'll do almost anything for those who manage to get close to him. Said people will usually see a different side of him; with his true friends, he's far more emotional and less fake and he develops a sarcastic bite and a blunt, tactless attitude. He's far less serious and withdrawn around friends and this is the only time he is completely genuine. He really is a person of strong emotions, as much as he hates to admit it for he views it as one of his strongest weakness. He's quick to anger and slow to forgive though more often than not, he will compose himself so whoever he is frustrated at will never know. When he loves, he loves strongly and fiercely. Granted, it takes a good deal to gain his friendship. He’s incredibly picky about how he associates with and he can be a bit of an elitist at times

History:His father, Diego Chavez, was a bit eccentric. Born and raised in Barcelona, he had a complete obsession with history and literature. He traveled to England in search of a rare document written by Aldous Huxley, a favorite author of his, and this is where he met Victoria Harper. While they were an odd match, they were soon married and a bit later, had their first child, a girl named Adelaide. 3 years later, Aldous was born and Diego insisted on naming him after the author who had caused him to come to England in the first place. He was nearly named Huxley but Victoria insisted that that was a name for a dog, not a boy. Of course, Diego addresses him as Huxley more often than not so Aldous responds to either.

Diego completely doted on the boy. He was everything he wanted in a son; from an early age, he showed interest in his father’s line of expertise and he was far brighter and more perceptive than his sister. Aldous was raised a muggle as his father more or less abandoned his wizard heritage. He grew up traveling the world with his father, picking up tidbits of different languages. While his mother believed that this was no way for a boy to be raised, his father insisted that he needed to learn about other cultures and histories at an early age. One of his earliest memories was exploring Spain with his father and this was one of the first trips he ever took. At this time, Aldous practically worshiped his father. He was the only child that he knew with such extensive cultural knowledge- or as much knowledge as a young child could have, anyway- and he was proud that he was more “worldly” than his peers.

This changed when he was almost 11, the year before he was accepted to Hogwarts. A boy in his class commented on how it was odd that Diego didn’t have a real job. Just a minor comment had a huge effect on the boy. Aldous began to see the truth in this statement; his father didn’t really do much of any importance- his mother did most everything- he had began to see his father as a waste of space and air because he didn’t actually contribute at all to society. Of course, he didn’t let his father know this; he acted like he still adored all of the little history lessons his father taught him and this was the beginning of Aldous’s penchant of acting, so to speak. The other significant effect was on his ambition. Now, Aldous had always worked hard in school simply because he loved to learn. This predilection soon vanished for the most part and his reasons for working were because of his new found ambition. He wanted to be the best, to excel, so he could be all the things his father wasn’t. The thought of being a failure was positively terrifying to the young boy so he was insistent on becoming the best.

The next event worth noting is his parents’ divorce. His mother had grown to resent her husband and this ended in their separate in the summer before Aldous turned 12. He and Adelaide both lived with their mother, mainly because she was actually around, and he took on her last name. He still spent- and still does- a good deal of time with his father though.

The next life altering event also occurred when he was almost 12. This was when he received his letter from Hogwarts. He was shocked, to say the least. While he knew quite a bit about the muggle world, he knew absolutely nothing about the wizarding world. This was when Diego finally confessed to being a wizard. As it turns out, he was from a long line of purebloods, living in Spain, but his obsession with all things muggle was the cause of much disproval in his family. Needless to say, he was more or less disowned from his family. He had pretty much forsaken his life as a wizard so he had chosen not to mention it before. Besides, Adelaide had turned out to be a squib so he didn’t think his son would turn out to be a wizard. Either way, Aldous found himself at Hogwarts a month later.

Upon his arrival, he was sorted into Slytherin and this was where he first learned about elitism and blood controversy. Wanting to fit in, he claimed to be a pureblood and his tradition of playing the expected role was fueled. It soon became second nature to him to play up to people's ideals and it has become a hard habit to break. Even now, he still portrays himself in the way people want him to be; if he’s expected to be sweet and submissive or arrogant and charming, he will be.

As soon as school started, he did his best in absolutely every subject. As previously mentioned, failure was not something he could tolerate. Most of his time was spent studying and he shied away from people his first year. He was still a bit afraid that someone would discover that he wasn’t exactly who he claimed to be. Luckily for him, no one questioned him.

By his second year, he realized that it wasn’t really healthy to devote all of his time to school so he finally set out to form some sort of relationships. Of course, he was careful to only associate with the best. He was- still is, actually- horribly picky when it comes to choosing friends but he did befriend a few other students. The next few years were much of the same and there isn’t much worth noting.

Appearance:He inherited his mother’s looks and it’s hard to believe that he’s half Spanish. He has dark eyes and dark hair, kept shorter and slightly disheveled for the most most. He's fairly pale and fair skinned, rather surprising taken his heritage. He has a rounder face with boyish features.

He stands at just over 5’11 though more often than not, he’ll say he’s an even 6’0. He has a runner's build: long legs and little extra weight. If anything, he's slightly underweight for someone of his height but it isn't noticeable. He has fairly narrow shoulders and it would be a bold faced lie to call him broad chested. He doesn’t really care how he dresses as long as it’s comfortable and rather neat.
